    Rear Diff Drain Plug question

    G'day All, I've recently bought a 1994 110 (I did have a SWB Series III - but it wasn't practical to fit the whole family in). I took it in to the garage yesterday for a once-over. One of the observations was that the rear diff filler plug thread is worn.

    Apparently there is a risk of the plug being pulled in and I assume at that point there would then be a fair bit of unwanted metallic grinding noise and a fair chunk of money changing hands. Fitting a 'military style' plug with a proper flange/washer arrangement was recommended. Any ideas on where I could get one of those? Would it be worth getting one for the front diff as well?     That would be the filler plug, not the drain plug, and yes it IS a problem at times. The flange type plug is a good idea. Front diffs don't suffer from this problem.

    A cast Solid/Rockcrusher cover fixes this issue

    IIRC I just used lots of Hylomar or thread tape and didn't crank it in so hard, but the pressed steel cover went quite a few years ago.

    I know they have drain plugs - ring em and see if they have filler ones.

    If it's a BSP thread you can source from a pneumatic supplier.

    The one shown in the attached thread has an O-ring seal under the flange and an Allen key socket for installation.
    Radiator bleed screw - look familiar?

    I'm just not sure whether the thread in the diff cover is BSP or not...
