Rear door stay on defender 110 inefective

The above (not sure what you'd really call it) doesn't seem very effective in keeping the door open when accessing the rear area. Seems to me it could be dangerous with kids etc, what with the weight of the spare tyre and everything.
Has anybody else had this concern

I have pulled this to bits and modified it several times! Not entirely satisfactory at present, so yes, I know what you mean.

Yep one of the first things we did was get Daniel's back door strut. Works a treat. And easy enough to install.

Ditto - and FYI Daniel can supply higher capacity units for larger spares/wheel carriers etc.

X 6 For Mulgo's gas strut - if you do not plan on a swing arm of any sort.

Once I fitted the Kaymar swing arm off my old 110 the weight of the tyre was taken off the door, thus requiring no gas strut to keep the door open as the mechanism was fine without it.

Daniel was saying that there is also some adjustments that you can make to the mechanism to keep the door open.
