Differenc ebetween 'normal' and 'X-treme' models

    Hi all,

Could anybody explain to me what the differences are between a normal Defender model and one labelled as "X-treme"?

    Thanks

    Bob

    Differences

When they first came out in 1999 as a limited edition the X-treme had Metallic paint ABS and Traction control and a Land Rover bull bar as standard
Over the years the differences may have blurred

Right - cheers for that dfendr. Is there is still a production of "Xtreme" models?
the reason I ask is that I'm looking to buy my first Deefer and occasionally I see an "Xtreme" model and I keep wondering what the difference is.

I might be wrong, but I think about 2003 the "normal" open-diff defenders ceased to be built and all models from then on had traction control and ABS brakes, mag wheels and color-coded wheel arches and roofs...

The new Puma Defenders have lots more options and luxury for a Fender. Buy one and put some Xtreme decals on it and confuse everyone.
I was thinking about putting a Puma bonnet on mine just to confuse the issue.

Mine is a 2000 model Xtreme, at the time the extras were ABS, Traction Control, Metallic Paint, Mag Wheels, Bull Bar and Flares (colour coded).
The colour matched roof was not a Xtreme thing but determined wether it was made in the UK or South Africa. Mine is an Xtreme with a white roof.
Then there was the Tomb Raider, I wish I had bought one of those new when I had the chance.

Are you buying new or used?
    Cheers

    Hi there,
Mine has ABS, TC, colour coded wheel arches, Bullbar, Metallic paint, white roof, and alloy wheels, but i do not have the stickers to say it is a extreme....
Someone also said that extreme have electric windows in the front. Is that true.
Is there a way of knowing from a extreme or standard by vin number, or any other way....
