    Trailer light flashing

    G'day All,

    First query re new Puma:

I've noticed this morning that each time I use the indicator (both left and right) the 'trailer connected' light flashes.

I had an ARB bar fitted yesterday and they hooked into the wiring to the indicator lamps. Might this be the source of the problem?

    Any clues?

Or fit LED globes to the bar or body lights (not both though).
The body light globes are forward facing so LEDs will fit there OK.

Same thing happens to my new Puma 90 fitted with factory tow bar, but only when the hazzards are on. I assumed this was normal?

I had a tow bar fitted to my 110 from new and didn't have the trailer light flashing. Once the bull bar was fitted, the light began flashing when indicating due to the resistance of the extra globes being detected. Maybe there is a problem with the tow bar wiring???

It's supposed to flash just once without a trailer, if its flashing after the first flash, then the bull bar needs a smaller wattage globe.

    Smile Flashers

Roo bar loads up the circuit, and system thinks its a trailer. Recently had the bar off then back on the 130 and proved this point. Personally, I leave it as it is since I usually busy ensuring that the indicators self cancel, or not.

What is also interesting, if you lose one of the bulbs (even the bar) the flasher indicates at double time....giving you notice to replace a bulb!! I had an altercation with an errant shrub....the 130 won but the shrub removed the roobar harness to indicator loom splice to spite me. Bugger!

P.S. Series 3's had a similar set up, the trailer light was centre bulkhead.....

Must be a common problem as a mate also with a new 90 just had the factory tow bar fitted and his trailer light also flashes with the hazzards on?
Fitment was by different LR dealer

My 96 D1 did it from the day I had an ARB bar fitted. So I'll try LED bulbs and see if that fixes it.
