Thread: Defender door key

Hi Andrew,

I rang barbagallo's and gave them the VIN, they actualy have all the key numbers on record, I took this to my local lock smith and hey presro cut a couple and they are perfect. Obviously this only works if everything is as it came from the factroy. They were quite cheap as well off memory and they even ahd the blancs in stock.

The good lady rang the "Southern" Barbagallo dealer.Need the vin etc,non in stock need to order a blank from SA.
She went to Narrogin today,the key cutter dude managed to un-twist the key good enough to copy without breaking it.He didnt have a matching blank.
Does anybody know if the specialist key cutters in the city would have a suitable blank or do we need to buy one from Land Rover????

Ive twice needed to cut another door key and the local Mr Minute type man I think had a blank that worked in stock, and maybe on the other occasion I needed to wait a few days for him to order the blank in. I reckon your local hardware guy can do a cheaper job than involving the dealers.... but hey I could be wrong, they might do it quick and charge you $9.95.

Hi Andrew, probably not much use to you the day before Easter.

Our local Locksmith "Arrow Locksmiths" has always had blanks when we have had keys cut. And having 2 siblings both with Land Rovers who have lost the odd key, ....

I can ask tomorrow and express post if you can't find any locally.

Picked up 2 blanks this morning - $2 each.

I will keep them for ourselves if you don't need them.
