Question Best spot for UHF in Puma cab?

I'm about to fit a new UHF radio in the Puma...I haven't bought it yet but I'm looking at one of the smaller units, but probably not a remote face unit. What are your suggestions for good mounting spots?

I thought I found the right spot with my old UHF radio (given to me, turned out to be U/S unfortunately) which I "cleverly" fastened near the drivers left knee, only to find that it gets too hot from the nearby heater outlet

I don't have a roof console but I have seen UHF radios in a kind of cradle, mounted direct to the roof (not sure how these work or where one could be fixed to)?

Any suggestions welcome...photos are good as are hints & tips!

    Cheers

I have a GME 3440 with the box mounted on the drivers side of the centre cubby and the mic mounted on the dash with the plug just above the brake controller in the second picture

I've also got a GME 3440 and have the unit mounted behind the passenger seat with the handset mounted to the cubby box in front of the cup holders.

Mine's a cab chassis not a wagon though....

I have a uniden remote head unit, it sits just in front of the cubby box, takes up very little space, and the main unit is hidden away in the dash some place....

My GME 3220 is mounted on the side of the centre console next to driver's seat, mic is on front of console - handy yet out of the way and power and aerial cables through panel under centre console.

Td5 though, not Puma but I assume much the same room.

I have an Icom pro 400 and an outback roof console waiting to go in my 110 next week when I get around to it. I loved the console in my GU patrol and hopefully it provides a bit more storage space for small items in the defender.
