    Wandering and Swivel Hub preloads

Does having the preload on the swivel hub set too low make the car wander?

More likely to cause a shimmy or vibration. Lack of caster or incorrect toe can cause wandering. As can worn suspension bushes.

Not unless there was actual free play (as BigJon says, usual symptom is vibration before wandering). Wandering is usually due to movement of the front or rear axle due to worn or loose bushes, especially those on the panhard rod or on the rear lower link. But wandering can also result from anything that causes free play in the steering, from wheel bearings right back to the steering wheel, or incorrect or uneven tyre pressures.

Actually the panhard rod bushes do need replacing - have some in transit as we speak. Thanks for the replies BigJohn and JDNSW
