    Traxide headlight kit

Hi, has anyone fitted the Traxide headlight wiring kit to a Puma? Where did you mount the relays and how did you get access to behind the headlights?

I installed it into my 2006 Defender 110 the other day. I mounted my relays under the blanking plate on the drivers side fender to the top of the wheel arch. This is not recommended in the insturcutions but all i needed was some extra cable for the lights and the power. it was much easier for me to do a neat job here.

As for the access to the lights I took off the lighting surround panel off the front and then took the whole light housing off to access the back of the bulbs. I believe you can also access this by simply undoing the 3 screws that hold the lights in without taking off the front panel.

It was a great kit and very easy to work with even for an numpty like me I managed to figure it out without any extra help. my lights are much brighter as a result but nothing special as it is still a defender after all.

    Good luck with it.

    Cheers

Thanks for the links and tips. I got the job done through the head light holes. Actually mounted the relay off a bolt on the mudguard in behind the headlights.
Can't believe how bright the lights are now!

    Cheers,

    Hi,
there seem to be heaps of relays under the dash in my 2009 Puma.
Can any one tell me if the headlights are now relay switched, or should I still put in a Traxide unit.
    cheers

There is a relay under the seat that controls the headlights on my Puma.

Looking at the wiring diagram I have the relay is before the dipper switch.
As the dipper switch seems to be the weak point for current draw I've fitted a Traxide duel kit to mine.

    Hi,
I finally put mine in as per the instructions supplied.
The relays mounted on a small bracket I made up and bolted to the horn mounting behind the left headlight.
The lighting at night is much improved.
    Cheers

Mine are mounted in behind the passenger side headlight. The hardest part of the job was working out where to put them once that was sorted the wiring was the easy bit.

When I installed the kit I allready previously installed driving lights and had a relay mounted on passenger side of engine bay on a bracket, near false air intake. I wanted to keep everything located in that vicinity so made up another bracket and mounted in same spot. I had an issue though as battery cable wasn't long enough went and boughtt some b&s 4 cable probably a bit excessive and ran that to the relay.
the instructions in the kit are only a guide
