Thread: LandRover 110 county ute

G'day,
you'll need to be more specific about what you are after, the question is
maybe a tad too broad to make an answer easy!

try something like,, "Im thinking of buying a LR 110 County ute can anyone tell me what the pros/cons of them are? any faults to look for? "

As far as I am aware no County trim spec 110 utes were sold in Australia, only station wagons. Do you mean the Landrover 110 ute, pre-Defender?

These were sold as a ute, hardtop and cab/chassis, with the last also being available with 120" wheelbase. Some had locally modified extended cabs. Basically the same as early Defenders except that the engine choice was either the 3.5 V8 or the Isuzu 4BD1.

You may be referring to a Land Rover 120, which is a trayback version of the pre-Defender 110. It was labelled as a "Land Rover 110". Pre-Defender Land Rovers are often mistakenly called Counties, as most of them came in "County" trim spec (carpets, load leveller in the rear and a few other goodies). The 120 is a workhorse so was never offered with a "County" trim.

It would be fitted with an Isuzu 4BD1 engine, and if of 1986 vintage, a 5 speed LT85 gearbox. The chassis has been "factory stretched" by 10 inches at JRA to accommodate a "man's size" 6ft x 8ft tray. As far as I understand they also didn't come with power steering, but it is a common conversion, so it may be fitted. You should be able to find more information on the forum about all of the above.

My stock (AFAIK) 89 120 has power steering if this was introduced latter in the model run I have no idea.

My 1985 120" had power steering, too.
