secondly I'd be careful about re routing your exhaust due to the possibility of being defected etc... check with your Veh standards section in your state...
also wont this likely introduce noise and heat into the vehicle?

Im in bed at the moment - and my neighbours are all really decent people who love my truck :P

Heat is good, because the car is always cold. Noise? It's a Defender man.

surprisingly simply, route the exhaust as per a series/perentie/isuzu county and then where the exhaust normally turns back down after passing over the suspension spring mount turn left through a hole in the body then go up.

It wont enter the cabin space as its exiting under the sponsons.

My understanding is that in NSW the exhaust must exit something like 6" after the last side exit.

The exhaust bloke I spoke to said I could cut a hole in the site just behind the "open" point on the side window and exit the exhaust there. I believe this is what Blknight is saying?

I didn't see much point in it though it would remove all mufflers in my system.

From what I understand, side pipes and truck pipes are legal again now. How I dont know why, as hot exhaust on the side is a risk. Best to double check with your state RTA. I found this out for WA last year when looking at restoring my Torana, that I could infact have a side exhaust like the A9X's.
Benefit of a truck pipe, if sealed well on water crossings if you stall water will not flow back up the tail pipe. Have seen it on heaps of utes but not on a wagon for some time. Last one I saw was an old Troopy.

I think you're insane, but you can be old and boring like me in thirty years time. Until then - go for it! Hope the legislation allows it. Young Defender drivers are the best. It took me far too long to realise I loved Landies.

I have seen it on Coaster buses, they run it up the back and use a heat shield to stop burning anyone as they can't touch the hot pipe.

And yes ADRs require the exhaust to exit the pipe behind the side opening windows.

I have an 80" where the exhaust pipe finishes just behind the pax door, I think I will get it routed to the back of the vehicle before I try to register it.
