"check the hazard light switch first, and once you have that off all the pins you need to diagnose everything related to the indicators is available from the one plug."
This is your diagnostic clue.
Search for a diagram for the hazard switch - all your woes will be revealed.

Thanks guys....I will hunt around for the flasher unit.
When I first picked my truck from the previous owner, one issue I had with the roadworthy was the hazard light switch...my mate doing the roadworthy picked up that the hazard switch was not working and when it was removed we found no wires attached to it!!! Could not even located the wires behind the dash ( I was new to Defenders back then so was not entirely sure what I was looking for) But the blinkers have been working for the past 2 years with a hazard switch.
One thing that I was concerned about was as per my previous thread regarding the installation of a transmission guard.
I had to drill out the 10mm holes in the chassis rail to 12.5mm to fit the HT bolts. Upon closer inspection after I drilled out the hole, I noticed that the wiring harness runs through the chassis rail on the drivers side of the 130. I was worried that I had nicked it with the bigger drill and severed the blinker wire. All other lights work out the back. Using a torch I have looked the harness and it looks ok.
Just strange that after mounting the guard yesterday, I jump in the car today and no blinkers.
Is that just typical Defender?
Cheers

plus about $20 postage
Slapped one in the 130 and fixed all my woes, just had to cut the old plug off and solder the wires on to the new harness
