Telling the difference between Lt77 gbox and r380

    Hi all
Just wondering how you tell the difference between the Lt77 gearbox and the R380. As i have a 95 Defender and they changed from the Lt77 to theR380 in 1995. My defender has a salsbury diff in the ass, if this helps.

They actually changed in 94 when the 300Tdi was introduced.

You've been a long time waiting for this answer.

The R380 is 30mm longer than the LT77. If you want to use your current prop shafts in a conversion, you can get a short bellhousing R380 from Ashcrofts in the UK. Not cheap to import but a reliable factory rebuilt one. Ashcroft Transmissions - Short Bellhousing R380

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
