Good time to buy a bullbar?..

    Hi all.
I'm wondering if now is as good a time as ever to buy a bullbar? I like the arb one and just wanted to ask peoples opinion out there if they ever go on sale? Can u haggle much on price? Any ideas?
    Cheers,
    Chris

Had an ARB on Td5 Disco from new and it sent a dozen or more Roos to the promised land. However looking at it you would of not known.
So when the Puma arrived without hesitation it was back to ARB, never seen them on sale however have you considered a pre used one. A bead blast and respray and it would look like a bought one.

Do you want it or do you need it Just asking that's all. I can see a good argument for fitting one if you live in the bush but they are a PITA for generally running around in the urban enviro with only occasional trips off the bitumen....

Good question. I never wanted one but have been doing a lot of km's lately on highway and seen plenty of wildlife alive and dead. Just missed a few Roos on the weekend. Planning a trip round aus in feb and would feel like a chump if a roo ended the trip short or got us stuck somewhere just cause I didnt want to get a bullbar.
Out of interest Why do u say a bar is a pain in urban environment?

I disagree that they are a PITA in an urban environment. I have an ARB bar on my Defender, since about 1999. We live in the city but we do lots of night travel. It has saved us from some animals and also three of my neighbours have backed into it. The standard bar would have bent, but the ARB bar only has some scratches in the powder coat.
I initially didn't want one but the radiator is quite far forward compared to the 2As I had previously, and was worried about being stranded after animal strike with no radiator in the middle of the night in the middle of BF nowhere.

x2 - I find it much easier to park a vehicle with a bullbar. You have a much better idea where the corners are!

Plus my landies have been saved from damage from careless drivers several times by the bullbar.

Two negatives for my arb winch bar with stardard wheels & suspension is loss of approach angle (rarely a problem - is strong enough when it does scrape) & extra 40ish kg's (takes me over GVM sometimes)
Wouldn't be without it, old alloy one I had seemed weak as compared to it
Price , usual sort of mark up - ring around. 2nd hand come up regularly depending on model
