Going from memory, just the arms (have to re-use the old heads) were $220-$250 for the pair!

    Cheers,
    Fraser

Hi again all. Like Ranga I was not real keen on the price, also was not sure if they were going to be wide enough. So I bought a pair of second hand standard arms and have extended them myself, 3 centimeters longer than the advertised ones. 310 mm instead of 290mm.

First I cut the arms in half, and then used a piece of half inch square tube for a back bone. If I was doing it again I would not go in half but make the mirror end 8mm longer than the car end as it gets a little narrow for the tube and I had to ease it out with the angle grinder.

Secondly, hand form a cover from a bit of light sheet by bending over a piece of 25mm round bar and attach with some self tappers.
Add a bit of black paint and away we go. It all seems plenty strong at this stage but time will tell. I was going to countersink the screw heads and fill the holes before painting but decided I might need to get a screw driver to them after a day of corrugations.

If you google 'Britpart mirror arm RRC 8443' you'll see some of what's available.
I extended mine with some 40mm x 80mm x 3mm rectangular aluminium hollow section I found in the scap bin where my truck canopy was made, so cost only time. I'm now going to try putting pictures on.....wish me luck.
I used the original mounting screws from the mirror to the RHS along with a S/S tube spacer to take up excess thread. I then used some suitable hexhead bolts and nuts to attach all to the hinge. I later offset the bolts to allow the door to open fully against the snorkel. the mirror is therefore extended by 80mm and is rock solid. Don.
