...whatever you 'think' is best...you gotta keep the Cook happy...
Hi, I am seriously looking at a new 130 c/cab HCPU to tow a 24ft caravan to travel at last. I have looked at a disco but it does not have the carrying capacity for all the extras, fridge/freezer, gen set, etc, etc. We are of the grey nomad era and driving around at home in a '88 Rangie lpg, which She Who Must Be Obeyed LOVES? Question: are the electronics different from the 110 to 130 as the 130 does not have abs or traction control. And is there any hidden gremlins in the 130. SWMBO is slowly coming round to the fact that the defender is the right choice. Would be grateful of any/all comments.

I have a 110. The traction control off road is very good.
If you got a 130 and wanted better performance off road later, you could fit an aftermarket rear locker.
The 110 and 130 are commercial vehicles, so the level of comfort and electronic toys are basic compared to even an '88 Rangie.
The 110 is perfect for my needs as I have dogs, do a bit of work around the farm, the wife collects horse & chicken feed in it and is awesome off road when away on trips.
The 130 lacks ABS and traction control, Personally i think this is not such a bad thing - less to go wrong electronics wise, i was always having issues with ABS in my d2 and d1 ABS was a bit flakey.
If you check out some of the build up threads compare the install of the mulgo x-box in some, you will see the difference in eletronics.
The Defender does have more carrying capacity than an old RaRo (900kg vs 450kg IIRC) but I would also seriously look at how much you are carrying... The RaRo should be ample for 2x people! Unless you think about it, you will always expand to fill any available space!
Travel light, you don't need all those mod-cons and the more you carry the harder you'll punnish your car... Which will lead to more roadside repairs.
The GVW on your car is not a target for you to hit but something you should be well within... Even with suspension mods, etc, etc...

Hi there I have a 2009 130 twin cab with a tray and recently completed a 4000K round trip in it, and honestly it was brilliant and comfortable. The person who accompanied me also stated that it was comfortable. It was amazing off road and we dealt with some rough country. It was very good on fuel in comparison to my old Land cruiser ute and light years ahead comfort wise. For touring I think it is a good choice. I did not tow anything however. The rear seats can be removed and you can customise if you want.
does the 130 have the anti-stall?
