Thread: No Fuel

I had a similar problem in my old Isuzu County, turned out to be a snail in the tank getting stuck in the pick up, after a tank change.

Anyway a quick and temp fix till I was home and able to get the tank out was to blow back down the fuel line with air to unblock then reprime, I had to do it a few times on the trip round Tassie before we get home.

Also have you ever disassembled the sedimeter and cleaned it out? They fill up with black gunge that could be your problem.

I don't think my girl has a Sedimenter.
But that's a good idea to blow down the fuel line.

does it have a inline filter inside the chassis like my 200 disco has.

That sound a bit odd. The old County had one as does the 95 300 Tdi 130.
It's mounted down the back on the chassis near the fuel tank, the 130's one is on the left.
It look a bit like a fuel filter and has a drain on the bottom, be careful it easy to bust the drain off, it's purpose in life is to filter out the larger particles and water. if you've never cleaned it out it will be full of gunk.
There is a bolt going from the top that holds it together, undo it and the bottom two sections will come off the head. Give it a good clean and put it back together.

yeah ive had a good look, and my buddy has a '96 130 that has one of these filters fitted near the fuel tank under the rear guard area.
I have followed my fuel line from the tank to the pump and there aint no water separator filter thingy.

The other question I had was "how big a job is it to take the fuel tank out and flush it all?"

I noticed some sand sized chunks of junk sitting in the fuel pipe inlet side of the lift pump when i pulled the hose off it.

I pumped some air down the line in-case it was blocked inside the tank, word of warning... Don't do that when your fuel tank is brim full!
it wont blow much air in, in compresses the air in your tank and squirts fuel back out the hose, if you take the fuel cap off to avoid the compression, it causes a litre or so to spew out of your tank onto the ground!


my tank is now almost empty, seen as i did get it running again, not sure if the pick up was blocked or I just was having trouble getting the lift pump to work as it may have been on the cam...

so while it's empty, it might be a good time to pull it out and flush it.

any suggestions on doing that job??

i have had the same problem with my isuzu 110 county what it was in the tank on the pick up line there is a little gaze filter and it was full of stuff ! blocking the fuel from getting to the engine, it would work for a little while then run out and then i would have to prime it through i thought it might of been a block or a air leak, i did drain the tank before that but the stuff must of stayed on the fillter, i would be looking at that

on mine the pick up line was on the side of the tank, and removing the tank wasn't needed, but some are on the top, i hope you don't need to remove it

mine is on the side i'm 99% sure.
I just had another incident less than an hour ago, like it was a blocked filter again, so i pulled up and thought i'd check if it was air...
cracked the air bleed nut while the engine was still running, and nothing came out.
So i shut the engine down and pulled the fuel IN line off the lift pump and put my finger over in inlet, and pumped the manual pump lever, couldn't feel any suction, turned the engine over a bit and tried again, still nothing for a few pumps... but then i got some suction, so i put the line back on and primed the air out of the filter, and that got her running smooth again!

Does that sound like the same problem could be causing this?
Or should I be looking for an air leak?

I will definitely look at pulling out my fuel pick up and see if it is a blocked gauze filter like yours Stumpy.
