    Minor electrical issue.

Hi All.My 2000MY TD5 Defender 130 has recently started occasionally blowing the fuse that covers the RHS tail lights and dashboard lights.I have spent some time wiggling the wiring harness where it is accessible at the rear of the vehicle, especially where the trailer wires are connected into the harness. No fuse blew.Next,I removed the dash panel and examined the wiring harness. No visible damage and nothing blew when I wiggled all the wires.Any suggestions on where to look next would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, 130man.

Are you the first owner ?
I had the same problem as you did, mine was that someone had cut the wires and rejoined them back up without any sort of shielding.
I only found this out as I removed the electrical tape they bound everything back up with.
Till then I lost half of the hair I don't have.
This could be or not be your problem.

It can also be in the wiring harness, just inside the chassis near the rear RH wheel. I had similar recently, though was not blowing fuses. The connectors are cheap brass and corode and break, but to do what yours is doing would have to short. It is a pain in the backs side to do as you have to disconnect the plug in the engine bay and remove all ties to let it drop down so you can pull the harness out of the chassis.
The other possibility is chaffing of the harness through the fire wall.
There is going to be a bit of trial and error to find it.

Hi all. This problem occurred again last night. Finished up a job in the dark, started up the truck and turned on the lights and the dashboard lights died along with the RHS parkers. Any suggestions on where to look specifically?Thank you. 130man.
