I wonder if this is a GKN number their uni series differently to Hardy Spicer (generally regarded as industry standard).

All 13xx uni's have the same size/diameter bearings but as the xx (00, 10, 30 & 50) change from the size across the yoke increases. I re-checked my previous statement in the Hardy Spicer catalogue (not covering the Puma) and have found it was correct (i.e. 1310 used in early Land Rovers then reduced to 1300 series in later years. A sudden large increase to the much larger 1350 series is extraordinary!

Two or three different types of sealing are usually used for slip joints. Some have a gland nut (doesn't look like a nut) that has to be unscrewed to separate the slip joint. Some slip joints can be very tight when trying to pull out past their normal operating range of movement.
AFAIK the OEM UJ from 2007-on is TVC500010GEN

I cannot find a spicer cross reference.
The GKN number is something like U100

Your photo appears to be the exact item, including the white seals.

Not sure what you mean about numbers. ?

I agree, it's odd considering the fairly low power and torque output of the stock vehicle. LR obviously had good reason to jump to a 1350. It's maybe an indication that the standard shaft geometry is borderline.

IMHO smaller UJ's with a DC would have been a better solution, but more costly.....

There's no obvious way of disassembly and it's supposed to be a sealed for life item with no lubrication possible. The slip worked very easily and then came to a dead stop.

The shaft tubing has a circumferential weld in the middle, I therefore came to the conclusion that there is some sort of internal retainer or bearing which was assembled before the tube sections were welded together.

IMHO besides using unis too small, most issues result from the small ISO size flanges that have the uni-joint too close to the flange and not allowing sufficient working angle before binding. The double cardin joint used in disco II driveshafts don't allow as much angle as a stock uni in a Patrol driveshaft.
Below is a pic I took showing binding angle of stock disco I and II front shafts and a Nissan shaft.
