    I went really stingy and put a kit through my clutch master cylinder (similar to Defenders), cost $15.00 and brakes feel really good. It's easy too.

    Cheap Chinese M/C for a caravan from Supacheap will fit Defender = $20

    Typically it's worse than that.

    More details? The symptoms you have described do not sound like the clutch/pressure plate are buggered.

    Even if they are buggered, you can nurse a slipping clutch for quite a while if necessary.
