That price from the dealer sounds very favourable, for the dealer!!

I just traded my 2005 Extreme model 90 in 6 or 8 weeks ago to a dealer, and I got $27K for it. 100,000Kms; Bonatti Grey; Snorkel; Sheepskins; Alloys with reasonable Grabbers on them. Bog standard apart from that (i.e. no winch or bullbar or suspension mods etc).

I'd try a different dealer, or give it a try privately.

The only thing I would suggest, is the installation by the dealer, of approved anchorage points behind the seat, for the little ones seat belt and cot harness.

Spudboy - That is really useful info thanks. I was hoping to get around the same $$$ for mine, it has a few more kms but also a few extras. Sounds like I need to do some more shopping around or sell it privately.

Arthur - Makes sense, I have read some of the threads about people having a hard time getting child restraints certified so getting the dealer to worry about it sounds like the way to go. Will post pics of the new baby on it's first out back adventure in the new defender

Well, I just think $13K offered by the dealer is a bit of an insult. When I was looking to put a value on mine I just browsed CarSales etc for an indicative price. I thought it was worth about $29K-$30K for private sale, given the Kms etc.

Even if you only got $25K for yours, you are still $12K in front of the dealer's offer.

I would fly over and buy it for the dealers price insult, "Tell him he's dreaming."

Definitely get the dealer to install child restraint points as part of the deal, I bought a Navara King Cab, knowing we would be trying for a family, dealer said (about the fold down seats in the back) "no problem, little seats, little legs" took it to the child restraint place, not a chance.
One very nice modified King Cab Navara went straight on the market.

Funny, they rang back again and I gave them the "your dreaming" line. Dropped the change over price by $6,500 (after they gave me the usual "I will have to talk to the manager and if I get this price are you ready to buy".

Anyway, has all left a distinct sour taste in my mouth so that particular dealer is completely off my list now. They were just having waaayy too much of a lend. These guys have to make a living, but only 1 pound of flesh would be nice.

There is one dealer left in the hunt now (out of the 6 I started with), for a 2010 110 with 6000km so hopefully they can be more realistic.

I think next time I have to go through this I will just send them all an email with my requirements and let them know I am sending it to all dealers. Tell them they get one shot at the best price and the winner gets my business

PS: I was warned not to quote asking prices for my car on here as it is considered canvassing and is against the forum rules (fair call I think). If I do decide to sell privately I'll list it in the market section.

Ouch!! Sounds like and expensive lesson and thanks for sharing. No wonder people have such a low regard for car sales people when they do things like that.
