What year is your Defender?
My 04/2011 built 110 has got no EKA according to my dealer..
maybe i should try again..

						Just letting Puma owners know that I successfully got my dealer to get the EKA code for my car from LRA using the VIN number. There was a thread about this where some mentioned they were not able to get theirs.

						Mine was built in about 08/2011. When I unlock the door with the key, and open a door, the alarm goes off. the manual describes how through a combination of ignition turns and door opening and closing according to the eka code, than can be overridden. I am assuming (hoping) that with the eka code and a spare key taped to the chassis (minus the remote door opener) I could get out of trouble if I lost the main key.
The dealer plugged the car into the computer and said that it did not show an EKA code for the car. However, he emailed LRA and about a week later I had the code.

Mine is a MY 10/10 - Dealer told me that it had no EKA code, however the Nonocom does show the code
If the defender has a factory fitted alarm unit, then from about 1998 onwards it will be the lucas 10AS unit. This alarm has the option built into it for an EKA code to be used when the key fob is lost or not working. When you input the EKA code this disables the passive immobiliser for that ignition cycle as a get you home solution. To get this code if you dont have it, is to go through landrover as it should be in the build record. Other easier options are to read it direct from the 10AS using a diagnostic tool such as the nanocom or msv2. The 10AS also allows the code to be reprogrammed to a different easier to remember code.

						Yes and No, within the standard settings in place on a 10AS unit, certain options are enabled to allow the use of the EKA code. These being Key Disarm and Key Mobilize. If these are disabled then an alarm set with a keyfob cannot be bypassed with the Key and EKA code. Key Mobilize will allow the engine to start and run for a short while with only the key in the ignition. Then after a short period of time the engine will immobilize because the keyfob was not detected by the Coil transducer in the steering column causing the passive immobiliser to operate. This is where the EKA code comes in by disabling the passive immobiliser for the duration of that ignition cycle. Basically every time you switch the ignition off and then restart you have to re input the EKA code.
So the answer to your question is Yes you can get another key cut and use that and the EKA code if you lose the keys/fob as long as Key Mobilise and Key Disarm are enabled. And No if they are disabled.

						Dropped my MY2010 Puma cab/chas in to dealer today for 20k service and asked about EKA. I bought it new in January this year but it was actually built in July 2009 !! So it was 18 months old when I bought it new. Figure that out.
After a bit of discussion, the bloke at the service desk went to his computer and in no time flat was handing me a printout with all the security numbers for my machine on it, including the EKA.
But what do I do with the EKA.
I don't remember anything in the Owners Manual as I looked for it because I also have a D2 which has the facility to over ride the alarm/security with the key.
