    Help temp gauge

Please help, my temp gauge is fluctuating on my TD5 DEFENDER 99 model . i have been looking on aulro but my case seems to be slightly different to what i can find . When i accelerate the gauge goes down as soon as i take foot off gauge goes back up to normal . I have checked wires at back of gauge and cleaned checked wires at head connection and cleaned. Changed thermostat . Any body got more ideas ? This car is doing me in at the mo last few months it has cost me big dollors in repairs . Thanks in advance Richard .

Is the thermostat fitted the correct way? Its been quite a while since I owned a TD5 but IIRC someone had discovered that a mechanic had incorrectly fitted their thermostat which produced similar results.

    pommy,
It may be worth checking the gauge earths or even add a new earth in.
Fender gauge problems are common enough and often due to poor earthing between -ve, block and gauge.
