    FWIW it's pretty common for the switch on the t/case to go out of adjustment.
    The light in my Deefer didn't work when I bought it all those years ago, it was just the switch adjustment.

    The procedure to set up the switch properly is outlined in the manual.

    BTW, if you listen closely you can hear the 'ting' of the engagement dogs when engaging/disengaging.
    I go off that more than the light.

    Drive in circles on a dirt surface turning hard right with lock engaged have a look at your rear right wheel if surface has a bit of traction you should see it/feel it grabbing and scrubbing as the diff winds up/releases. If it doesn't it's not engaged. If it does get the light fixed!

    I have the opposite problem the dif light is almost permanatly on even when the cdl is set to off.

    what the is procedure to adjust the switch (that is all I hope it is)

    it is a PITA as you have to remove the trans tunnel and all those horrible little screws that hold it in.Once you get that off you will be able to see the switch and all will be revealed!
