You haven't got a prop-shaft recently out of balance have you? Perhaps a very slight bend that reaches a harmonic at 85-90KPH.
Guys,
Long shot, but I need some measurements....
My 110 has started to shake a little at about 85-90kph. Its not wheel balence, its not the steering damper and I dont think its a knackered bush.
Im thinking its my front springs that have sagged, knocking the castor angle out and inducing the shake.
I am running King Spring KRRS-02 on the front with 6 degree QT Radius arms. For 4 years this has been perfect for me but after the recent pounding on the Anne Beadell and CSR Im pretty sure theyve sagged further.
When I installed the springs I recorded the heights from ground to top of arch... Now I cant find the measurements....
If anyone is running fairly new KRRS-02 or KRFR-03 springs, could they measure the height on the vehcile so I can compare with mine? (I dotn want to buy 2 new springs to find out it wasnt that!
Thanks
Jon

Jon

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
I'll place money that it isn't the springs. Propshaft UJs or shaft balance would be top of my list as well.
Thanks guys. The prop (double cardon) was refurbed after my trip...
Next job when it stops raining will be to remove the prop and go for a drive.
Thx
Jon

I pretty sure they are the springs I am running and I think I have the measurements written down at home from when I put them in. I am however, unfortunately not at home. I can tell you that after two and a half years (with a 37kg bar only on the front), that my free spring length is 375-380mm (because I measured them on Saturday when I replaced the front shocks).
This probably isn't much help though. I'll have a look tonight.
James.
Perhaps, it's the splines not in the correct alignment, IIRC the splines have to be aligned one or two splines out of square to prevent this sort of vibration.
It happened on my RRc, no matter what fix we attempted we couldn't get rid of the vibration at 80-90KPH. Eventually Ward Freeland, removed the shaft and rotated the splines and the vibration disappeared immediately and has never returned.

I had the same problem on an early Rangie, turned out to be the panhard rod bush. On visual inspection it looked ok, but once removed and compared to the new item you could see it was flogged out. Could be worth a look, cheaper than springs.
