    Puma Reliability

    All,

I have to report that I have nothing to report...

We've just returned home after a 4000km round trip from Karratha to the South West and back and the Puma yet again performed faultlessly.

Not a drop of oil used and a respectable 9.2km/liter (10.9 liter/100km) average for the trip. I did however run on the alloys with the original General Grabbers (instead of my KM2’s) due to the fact that 95% of the trip was on black top and it was smooth sailing from beginning to end.

We set off in Karratha on the 21st December in a 48C heat haze and returned to a balmy 40C yesterday and the aircon kept us comfy all the way.

Seeing as the forum seem to have a bit of a shortage on “happy” reports I thought I’ll post this especially for those who are thinking of buying one of these superb vehicles.

    Cheers!

As an add-on to Loubrey's post, my 2010 plate Defender has just ticked over 40,000 trouble free kilometers, used as a daily drive and farm bus

Yep we are at 105,000kms and still going strong, no major issue or explosions like we get told they ALL do.

    Cheers,

I've done more than 6000km during my Chrismas trip from Melbourne to Ayers rock, no major drama, but found oil leaking from the front diff on the 2nd day, got it fixed by a land rover dealer for free when I dropped by. Adelaide

I must have got a dud bad one as my 2007 Puma has only had a faulty clutch and output shaft seal replaced at 20,000km (they were all a bit crook in the first of the model). Land Rover didn't even do a good job of puting mine together badly (as many seem to assert about Land Rovers) as it has been great. People stop me in the street and ask me if it is new. So after 46,000km I'm happy with mine. It has been more relaible than some of the other so-called unbreakable 4x4's I have owned in the past.

I must say though that a 2012, 110 in Firenze red looks good. Maybe if I get one I will get a dud bad one of those as well which would be good.

    Hi all,

My Puma has only done 12500km but I have had no issues.
I drove mine from the dealer 1500km north and had a ball with it camping at Gnaraloo last April. I try and take it off road once a month (work permitting) and it hasn’t missed a beat.
    Very happy with it.

My 2010 Puma now has 29000km on the clock.

So many issues it's not even funny. Now sitting at the stealer for a clunking + whining gearbox and rear diff has started humming its death song.

To be fair, it has never left us stranded and performed faultlessly on a 6000km trip to Namibia in April-May 2011
