I've loved defenders from a far for years and finally was in a position to buy a Puma 110 a couple months back. Got my first wave on the second day and smiled all the way home! I've been an avid waver ever since! sometimes people see me, sometimes they don't, sometimes they wave back sometimes they don't. But I still wave and I still smile when I wave (such a newbie), if the driver doesn't wave back no harm done, I'm waving at the defender they're driving! and if it could I hope it'd be waving right back at me!
Also as a side note, when I see a wave too late and the driver doesn't see my wave back I feel really bad! Well not bad enough to chuck a U and chase them down :)
Any sydney-siders spot me and I don't wave back I promise I haven't seen you!

No it isn't.
If it was, why would an otherwise perfectly sane person be continually scheming as to how he can get himself one the last ones, despite already driving one the most capable and comfortable vehicles on the road.
Who is trying to justify selling a 2 year old Disco 4, that he thinks is the best car he's ever owned and suits his needs perfectly, to get into a noisy, uncomfortable, leaky old truck that would probably attempt to kill him if he ever had an accident in it.
Who when invited to a Land Rover Experience and being told "sir we have the Range Rover waiting for you now" walks straight past everything to spend as much time as possible in the Defender, and had to be dragged out of it with an enormous ****-eating grin, despite not being able to walk properly for a couple of days because the seat was too close to the pedals.
"Just a car" wouldn't do that. "Just a car" is a Camry.
So next time you drive past a white D4, just look out in case you get a wave - I don't discriminate.
Cheers,
Jon
I'm two weeks away from getting my 2105 Defender, I really hope I wont be pigeon holed into the new know nothing hipster segment, it's my first landy product, but have adored Defenders since I can remember and can afford to buy one now (at 25).
So anyways, I'll be waving my hand off at every one I see, I already wave at the three I see parked on my trip home along beach road lol.
Don't worry about the pigeon holing, its been done since the beginning of time and mostly tongue in cheek...
There are still those among the cart sprung mob who thinks these damn coil sprung things released in the ealy 80's have ruined Land Rover! :D
8 years after the event, this forum heading still calls Tdci's "Them new Ford engined Land Rovers", so we all still happily pigeon-hole along! ;)
I would still avoid the whole "lumbersexual" thing though...
Cheers,
Lou
Always get waves when im in the Series 3 and got cat called by a group of chicks the other day..lol
0 in the Disco, I still wave anyway and enjoy the baffled/snooty/glazed looks I seem to get...
There's only one series vehicle I see regularly in Armidale, a light green shorty driven by a cranky local mechanic - never waves.
