    Nothing wrong with Jeep's

My first car was a CJ-6 in 1983 and when I was a little tacker the family car was a Wagoneer, so I was well schooled in 'the wave' as there weren't that many Jeeps back in the seventies and into the eighties.

I can't help but think we are a little "up ourselves" with this wave business.

    • I used to drive an BJ40 Cruiser - waved at others
    • I used to drive a Subaru Brumby - waved at others
    • I also drove a Lada Niva - waved at others (a mutual sympathy thing going on there )

Ok, no-one waves back at my Magna!

Newsbreak: Weird middle aged guy seen in Melbourne waving randomly at other road users!

Here in the bush, everyone waves, if you're a local

Lets not forget thought that the Land Rover wave is international.

This looks like a wave party - just mssing the loud music, lights and drugs but we've got loud motors, headlights and oil on the drive.
I too always wave and feel guilty if I miss one; the Minister of War thinks its all a bit childish and just laughs to herself but then again she drives a rav4
BTW, I was coming out of the bottlo at Woolies this evening and this kid about 11 - 12 was with his old man and they were parked behind me. As the kid walks past Boofy, my 96 Def he says "Dad, I like these cars, can we get one of these?" haha had to chuckle to myself (his old man was driving a ford ranger erruggghhh!)

    STOP THE WAVE - NOW!

Driving is far too serious a business to be distracted by infantile travel games, like punch buggy or look for the Land Rover. You people are in charge of two to three tonnes of potential death. All this waving taking attention from the road is no different from texting on those instruments of satan, the mobile phone. Research should be done to see how synonomous is waving with drink driving and I shall be writing to the Roads and Potholes Minister to suggest a government grant to some researcher with sufficient funding to confirm the danger. It should be illegal - $300 and 3 points for the offence of 'Wave at Land Rover'.

Are Land Rover drivers made so insecure by the denigration of Japanese four wheel drivers as to the unreliability, oil leaks and expense of owning that they require constant validation of their ownership in primitive tribalistic displays of unity.

My posts on this subject have nothing to do with me having been stuck at home after hip replacement surgery and having far too much time on my hands.

No, I think SWMBO (a Nissan Patrol driver) is right when she reckons we only wave to verify someone will stop and rescue us, or at the least offer commiserations when our conveyances break down
