Hi All
Finally got the new 2.2ltr Deefer last Tuesday. Had to take it for a run on Thursday to Sydney (Father was taken to hospital) so it was a great run in for it. The car went like a dream, 11.3ltr/100k on the way down and 10.5ltr/100k on the way back on Sunday. Got to say, I just sold the Ford Ranger to upgrade to the Defender and I love it, it pulled like a freight train up all the hills in top gear and didnt even look like struggling, got roped into a boys weekend at Jandowyn 4wd park near Warrick next month, so I'll have to show all the Toymota drivers going what a real truck can do. Got a roof rack to fit yet and a winch as well when the bullbar arrives, a mate who made me a rear crossmember for Smeg (S3) is fabricating some side steps out of 65mmx5mm aluminium tube topped with checker plate and then will fit a snorkel. Lokked at the factory one but I thought it was too bulky on the body, the Safari looks a lot better IHMO.
Cheers Ian

Nice truck,
They are sweet when new....
You haven't been driving around Ormeau/Coomera area have you?.. I've spotted one just like yours a couple of times and wondered if it was someone visiting or a local with another Deefer..
Looks good btw.. you'll love how well it goes on the tracks!
Ian, take it out bog stock to the 4x4 park, I reckon run the tyres at 20psi and watch your mates jaws keep hitting the ground.
you can keep muttering best 4x4xfar as you wonder past them.

I had a look at it today. Most envious. Ian's lined the rear with foam & carpet which has really lifted the interior. (Dunno why LR don't do that themselves, frankly.)
That gunmetal grey is definitely my favourite Deefer colour. Wonder what an S3 would look like in it?
Hi Ian, must be the season for buying Defenders as I picked one up yesterday, although mine is not brand new like yours. I sure I'll have fun fixing it up. I agree with your comment about riding better than a Ranger, I had one as a work ute up untill changed jobs at the end of last year and even after the short run up the Warrego highway yesterday the one thing I noticed was how well the Defender rides
.
And yes mate the purchase was made without the permission of the Minister of War and no I did not have to sleep in the shed with the cats.
Ihave to come and have a look at yours, I'll be down the GC in March.
Cheers Jeff
Nice! I'm still waiting for mine and no delivery date yetbeen the longest 4 months of my life...
Thanks Guys
Mrs HH, If I am not in Sydney for Dad, I will be at the next meeting, or Steph wants to take it for a drive, so we might drop in if around your way
Newhue, We are going to Jandowyn with some mates from the Landcruiser club next month, Gunna get a Tomota recovery vehicle sticker
Sue, Coomera must be the only spot I haven't been yet.
Drover, Young SWMBO takes a deep breath everytime she gets in and out and says she hopes that smell never goes away.
Matt, I told you, go and get one and deal with the consequences later
Jeff; By all means, give me a call and drop in for a chat.
Wannabee; Hang in there Brother, I was getting extremely anxious waiting for mine as well.
LRO53; Mine looks betterer
The rear carpet came up a treat, almost looks a like factory fit. The buulbar, winch and towbar gets fitted this Wednesday and I am waiting on the higher mounting legs for the roof rack. Next weekend I'll look like pure sex on wheels
Cheers Ian
