Thread: How to talk you wife into buying a 90?

I'm a girl and I wouldn't have anything else but a 90 now I have one.. when my hubby first told me to have a look at it (at a show) I was originally aghast.. but I went back for a second look.. and by the third look I was in love.. Poor hubby then realised he had to spring for a new car..

The car has so many good points that I barely know where to start.. apart from it's off road capabilities (which appeal to me but maybe not to all other ladies) it gets her up good and high so she can see past the cars in traffic, it's reasonably economical, it looks good (damn good), strangers wave and stop you in the street (I was even accosted by a motor cycle driver at the lights yesterday asking about the car) to admire the car, it's a lot safer (stronger) than what she is looking, there is plenty of room in the back for shopping, it drives well, parks easily (once you get used to the turning circle lol), it will hold it's value a lot better than the other cars you mentioned (more so I think as the shape is changing) and well it's just cool... as I said I wasn't sure when I first saw it but I am so glad that she is mine now!

Find movies with 90's, like one suggested in the thread you referred me - rent them, watch a few each week.. then slowly through osmosis things might occur?

Tell her you can (or need to) buy two 90's for $75K and she'll say "can't you just buy one?" and you say "S'pose so, but it'll cost $39k" and she'll say "Yeah, but we've saved $36K!" Problem solved

My better half has been quoting me the NCAP rating and all sorts of things. I tried to explain that I don't intend to crash it in the first place.

Mate I admire your devotion. I have my wife over the line, just not the 40K.
I'd work on the simple things like power steering, air con, ABS, colour, and better visibility. Just keep it simple so the Defer can do what all the others have, and be just a bit better. As Sue mentioned she will warm to it if it's going to happen.

You may have to work on an up spec flash model like Sue's, (sorry can't recall ATM) so be prepared to compromise if you have to have a 90 in the drive.
But maybe mention she will be cooler, funckier, and stand out from a Prado or LC mum, but be careful about comparing size as she will go straight to comparing Jap small cars again.
Perhaps try air bags are expansive things that break and require fixing to stay legally registered. Defenders don't need them because of the strong chassis.
Japanese servicing is expensive, and they rarely accept responsibility for their product.
Leaks are a thing of the past, Land Rover have fixed that problem. Just don't mention it takes 5 attempts to achieve this.
