    new 90 leaking fuel tank

Hi guys - i searched but couldn't find anything similar.

I used high flow to fill up, backed it off towards the end until it clicked, so far so good. Got back to the 90 after paying and there was a few guys gathered around looking at diesel pi55ing out from underneath the defender.

Was no small leak. Checked filler hose clamp had not come off or loose and it was ok. looked as though diesel was flowing from the top of the tank somewhere but after trying to find the source of the leak for a few minutes we noticed it slowed to a complete stop.

Has not leaked again 5 days and two tanks later

I filled it with approx 40 litres on the next fill and then completely full on normal pump thurs night and no leak. is there an overflow/ pressure safety or return hose that may have popped off from filling with high flow?

    Thanks

I would keep an eye on it but chances are you just overfilled it. The tank breather pipe is just above the top level of the tank and the fuel filler is at a higher level, so when it is overfilled any fuel above the level of the breather exits through it. There is a mod to extend the breather pipe up to behind the light clusters to stop this happening.

Number 6 in the above pic is the breather pipe. Also after playing in mud this breather pipe can become unclipped and will droop down lower.

Filler pipe and connections worth checking.

I recently had a blocked breather filter. The car had done 40K. I filled the tank and drove 100klm back to camp so it wasn't my usual chokers full. Overnight it started dripping and created a diesel shadow around the lower fill port and on the chassis. To me it looked like it had split the tank in that area as it was dripping reasonably well.
Next couple of fills nothing at all happened. Dealer said they found a blocked breather filter and replaced it. Still nothing again, seems sorted.

Nugget has some experience as well similar to yours. Check his post in members rides

I have had the same problem. The dealer told me it was because I crushed the breather when 4wding. The breather pipe is 8mm I extended it using oil resistant plastic hose and a stainless 8mm push in hose connector when fitting a long range tank.

    cheers

My new 110 did exactly the same thing. The breather line was kinked from the factory. The dealer fixed it I think by shortening the breather line. Mine was pretty easy to spot by looking from under the tank and up towards the filler. The breather was too long and had kinked.
    Cheers,
