Stainless Steel Bolt replacements for Defender 110 ?!?!

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has gone down the track of replacing original bolts on a Defender 110 with Stainless Steel bolts ? . . . .

I'm thinking of installing as many Stainless Steel bolts as possible on my 2011 Defender 110 and was after your ideas / opinions / experiences !

Thanks for taking the time to read and reply,

    Cheers,
    Dave

Just don't replace any on anything that requires a high tensile bolt.

I did all mine. Mine is a 2000 not a 2011 though I can not see why they would not have a suitable kit. Mixed thoughts on it. Overall they seem better though they still get rust stains from the steel threads they screw into. Having said that a lot less than the steel bolts and the bolts themselves dont rust. Much cheaper to buy from the UK than here though. Make sure they send you the right kit, I was originally sent partly the wrong kit. I think I got sent 4 rear door kits instead of all doors as they are different length bolts. It was not a major problem as the company concerned immediately sent me the additional correct sets. I did the bonnet and back door kits as well.

    Stainless bolts

You need to coat the screws with Duralac a Anti corrosive jointing compound. It inhibits
    electrolytic corrosion between dissimilar metals.

    Hi Dave,
    I used these guys.
They have just about everything you could want.
I did all the hinges, the bonnet and the lens screws.
Looks good and no more rusty heads

Why not just go to the local bolt shop? Looks like it would work out cheaper. I have replaced all the external screws with stainless, which cost next to nothing and all were available from my local fastener place.

As mentioned, don't replace any critical bolts like tow/recovery points.

My first thought. Chromium is added to steel to inhibit corrosion, however, the more chromium added the softer and weaker the steel becomes.

Google Stig Fasteners. They are a stainless steel company who market make specific kits of stainless steel replacement fasteners. Yes, they speak Land Rover. Remember to use Loctite nickel anti-seize on the threads.
