If anyone has an SD or PP cage on a defender that is registered in NSW or the ACT I would love to hear from them.. This is the sticking point for me.

I just got a repy regarding the price of the roll cage. Just under $1700 landed in Fremantle. The delivery time is 8-12 weeks. I think it will now have to wait until after my August fishing trip to Cape Leveque

    Thanks,

I spoke to my guy today, he is making some enquiries and mentioned a possible group buy. I will report back when I know more.

    Allan,

I spoke to good mate this arvo, he is owner of "Street Neat Welding” they specialise in chassis and roll Cages" hear of the NSW Central Coast.

Without measuring up, he estimates about $1200.00 for a single hoop, rear support legs and extensions tubes to go under the floor to the chassis, (basically the same as you were looking at). The cage will be made out of the same Cr-Mo steel that is required under ANDRA rules and the wait will be no where near 8-12 weeks once ordered.

Next week I am going to have mine measure up and provide an accurate quote. He can make one or one hundred if the demand is there.

    Hello Allen,

I am also getting paranoid, I have the same fear when driving mine with the kids in the back seat. When you see the strength of the aluminum body of the Defender, it is understandable to seek to adding some kind of protection.

Our fear is echoed by the fact that the NAS Defenders had a roll-cage fitted for the protection it offers.

I am convinced that an external roll-cage could preserve the body and the occupants.

In addition to Safety device, Terrafirma also has a 6 points external cage for the Defender.

I strongly believe, like you that it fitting one is a good investment.

Thanks Drover. If this can be engineered I would also be interested.

You won't be able to engineer it in NSW as an external ROLLCAGE,but afterall,it is just a very solid ROOFRACK,which won't require engineering,as long as it isn't welded to the chassis
