Wow Tim what a great read, thanks for that. It really opened my eyes to what involved in the R&D for all these off the shelf items we (I) take for granted.

yes I think your right. I was thinking of the middle larger blank panel when I posted. From the loaner Freelanders I have had, that is where trip, fuel, ext temp etc is placed.
