    it also depends on how far you are going and when...

    I do all my stupid heavy, barely legal towing either at stupid oclock in the morning when there is no other traffic OR during peak hours where the safe speed impositions of the vehicle configuration are rendered moot by the dead stop speed of the traffic anyway.

    Ring ahead, line up a spare rear diff..

    I'd give very serious consideration to trying for an opportunity load (assuming its a one way trip.)
