    Defender Seat Box..........

Could somebody tell me the dimensions of the "battery box" area on the left side of the seat box ??

I want to alter my Series III seat box so that it will take a battery or two, at the moment it is only 200mm deep at the front edge. I'm sure the defender ones are much deeper internally.

    Thanks in advance

mate, the difference is it steps down about 100mm below the floor on a defender, above floor box is 200mm

Sorry Jerry; I don't have my Defender "on me". I can measure it tonight if no one else jumps in by then.

    Just did a quick measure
It has a trench down the middle of it, that trench is 205mm wide.
The front edge of the box goes down 285 into the trench, and 270 on the edges.
The back edge of the box goes down 225 into the trench and 210 into the edges.

Oops - I've got the white Defender seat box you had!

I am going to (would like to) use it on the 6X6 project, but would be happy to return the original grey box or just the floor for you to graft into your SIII type.

Likely be transiting SEQ June LWE!

BTW: the SIIa & SIII six cylinder had a battery tray in the LHS seat box as well, however those two weren't as large as the Defender type even though the internal measurements of the box are the same.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Thanks for the offer Diana, but I'm quite happy to alter my existing seat box

I'm going to install a box on the driver's side and was wondering if I could make that into a battery box. If it's not viable to put batteries on the right hand side I'll alter the left side too. I'm going to remove that angled section that seems to do nothing anyway.

I'm going to apply soundproofing material also as it's a pretty basic box

Any chance of a pic or two ?? Shame your in victoria

I just found out that if you drill the rivets the box falls out , so maybe a defender box would rivet straight back in which would make things easier all round
