I have just acquired a Hayman-Reece 4000Kg tow receiver off a 1996 Defender and also want to fit a pintle hook to tow my various military trailers. The problem seems to be the position of the holes in the chassis rear cross member being too close to the rotation lock on the Dixon-Bate NATO standard pintle.
Has anyone fitted this combination together?
Did the pintle locking tab work?
Did the pintle foul the towball articulation?

No because you have to carry it around with you, which requires an additional mounting/storage point. Much easier to have it permanently mounted ready for use. (I have a pintle adapter for both my RRc and another for the D4, they are never where you want them to be when you have to unexpectedly tow with the alternate coupling.)Originally Posted by Larry

2/ all my ex-army trailers have a higher drawbar height than the Hayman-Reece position which means that you have to have a pintle bracket strong enough to resist the torsional effects of raising the position.
