    My11 or 12

Hi all just a quick question, I am going to look at an ex demo my11 and was wondering if there is any difference between the 11 and 12. it dose have 3000 k on the clock, is it worth paying a bit more for a brand spanker and is there any difference in the models?

One thing to consider with demo's is that the warranty period commences from the time that the vehicle was registered. so if its been demoing for 6 months you only have a 2 and a half year warranty. Heck I'd almost be waiting for the MY13, its not that far off now and the other will be a 2 year old car - or at least that's what they'll say when you want to trade it in.

Yeah that's what I've been thinking, maybe some good negotiating leverage though suppose.

Apart from warranty issues you also need to consider the resale value when you go to sell it.

E.G. Lets say it was built Dec/11 when you go to sell it the dealerships or most ppl will only see the MY 11 even thou it may only be 30 days off having a MY 12 plate on it.

So effectivle your car is 12 months older than it really is when it comes to trade value

Are you buying it to sell it, or are you keeping it for a while. If you want resale buy a Toyota, I really don't think after the 5 year mark it will matter if its MY11 or MY12 what will matter is its condition and accessories etc.

Also it's going to depend on what you pay for it, if there is no difference between models then, if you can save 10K this will buy you a hell of a lot of accessories.

Just remember if its a MY11 new car demo, the dealer would have written that back thousands of dollars, so you should be able to secure it around the 40K or less mark. Despite what they will say, and remember not everyone is rushing out to buy these things, the ball is in your court.

    Regards,

    Babs.

The "MY" stands for Model Year. The model years run about September to August so a MY12 might get made and sold in late 2011. That would seem to be the case you have come across. Early next year, ie 2013, there will still be MY12's for sale so an MY12 can be manufactured and/or sold anywhere from late 2011 to mid 2013.
The MY12 is a good truck - at least my one is.

Well I went in there the sarvo and had a rush of blood and got it for 52 with extended warranty so I get the full three years, white, 7 seats, arb sliders and arb 3/4 length roof rack couldn't decide on what to put at the front really want a winch but love the look of the front how it is maybe a custom job. It's funny how things escalate two months ago I was looking round for a nice county, couldn't find one I liked so started looking at early defenders and now have ended up with a new one see what happens when you spend too much time on these forums the puma seems for be very loved. hopefully I can take possession before I fly back to work for three weeks on friday and my wife gets to bond with it before I do.

    Big difference

There can be a huge difference between my11 and my 12 . I ordered my 90 in 2011 and recieved it in Jan 12 it was built November 2011. Mine has the new 2.2 litre engine. If it is a 2011 check what engine is fitted if its a 2.4 its old school and should be much cheaper. Mine was the first batch of new engines to come to Aus so would say pre November 2011 is the older 2.4 engine. When you go to sell this will be a big point but to drive not much difference im told so try and swing a bargain.
    Mike
