			recommended steering dampers

					Hello people,

Steering damper on my TD5 is stuffed and I'm looking to replace it. I've been warned on good authority to get something good quality. Was going to just buy a genuine LR part but have come across others like Iron Man and Bilstein... Would prefer to buy from a seller in Oz too both because of shipping and putting money into our economy!
I don't do any extreme off roading but it will get put through it's paces. Are there makes that are trusted and ones that should be avoided?

 Cheers

I havent had any complaints about my genuine one, I am replacing it but only because I am running portals and 35" tyres and the original is a little underdone for that

					Over the years Ive used:
 Original
 Bilstein
 OME
 Tough Dog RTC
 Tough Dog HD Foam Cell

The RTC worked very well on the larger muddies, but didnt like 7,000km of continuous corrugations on my trip last year and sprung a bit of a leak

The TD HD Foam Cell thats currently on the car seems very robust and rugged.

OME & Bilstein never let me down, but in fairness I never gave them anywhere like the hammer the RTC got.

In short, I guess they are all much of a muchness!

 Regards,
 Jon

I found Terra Firma good on the Puma for the cost, two Kimberley trips and all good. The ninety is still on the original at 87000km and thats all good also. I found the return to centre on the Terra Firma handy with larger tyres.

Do they overheat like the shocks and if that's the case is there one on the market with a separate reservoir for cooling? Just interested

I have a Boge on my County and have no complaints about it, it replaced a Dobinson branded one. I have an ATB in the front so return to centre is redundant.

Thanks for the advice people. Have been calling around getting prices. More than double the cost getting one in Melbourne compared to online!
