I have a scan gauge on my TDCi and it likes low revs and high gears, under 2K and use the torque and when on the overrun it reads zero fuel flow so letting it idle down in gear is better than idleing in neutral. Pat
Drats. There goes my theory! So really we're better off gearing down & saving on the break pads?

Well, I've just put the original wheels/tyres back on and will be doing a few tank fills over Xmas, so with the car loaded and with RTT and RRack on, I will see how better the ecconomy is from the last two tanks, 520/545lts (when light comes on). I usually run MTZ's which are 31's and at least an inch and a half wider that the Cross Contacts.
Mine gets from Headland to Newman with the camper on,speed is your enemy as far as defenders go. Pat
Hi,
Had mine 3 weeks and did my first measured fill last week.
471.1 km on 52.24 litres. Thats 11.1 litres / 100 km. So am reasonably pleased with that. 769 km on the clock.
That was a mixture of around town and out of town.
It would a have been a bit better than this if I hadn't driven off with the cap hanging on its little plastic tie.
Didn't realise till I got home. Funny that I have never done this in 20 years on the 200 Tdi. I am finding the fuel cap a little user unfriendly at this stage.

11ltrs from a 2T brick is very good actually. Pat
I have never seen 10l/100 from my 2010 110. I have 54,000kms on and the best I get around to town is 14.4.
On my 2 recent trips where I recorded kms and litres and also monitored with a scan guage I got 15.4 and 14.9 fully loaded. On the open road I use the cruise control and cruise at 100km/hr. Based on the claimed 10l/100km claim I fitted sill tanks which should have more than covered the trips but after a couple of close calls on the first trip I carried 4 jerry cans on the 2nd trip.
I was thinking that the roof rack was having more effect than I had anticipated but after talking to a few Pums owners I am not so sure. To get 10l/100kms I would have to cruise at around 85kms/hr according to the scan guage being passed by caravans...unfortunately I am not yet retired to make that feasible.![]()
I have posted my fuel figures in member's rides for a MY12 110 for comparison over the first 10K+ kilometres.
I think something is not quite right to experience that usage as I am definitely not light on the accelerator and I seem to be doing better. Again better around town than the highway.
