Few weekends back drove Brisbane - Sydney - Brisbane on the Coast road both ways.

Truck was empty except the sea anchor and I, a couple of overnight bags and a 40KG lump of ally in the back. Pretty much drove down, across Sydney and then back so figured I should get about as good a fuel figures as I was ever going to.

On the freeways I sat on 100kms/hr confirmed by the GPS.

Started with full tanks, drove 2,039kms and ended with fuel tanks having used 239L which by my maths works out at 11.72 l/100kms. Truck had done 57,500kms at end of trip.

    I'm running 255/85s & I'm consistently returning 11.5.per 100 in my td5 110.
Sometimes I get worse figures but that's because I'm giving it more stick since the 3 " exhaust went in. Plan on putting in the allisport intercooler
    so that should help things.

I towed a caravan about 2t and returned around 17/100.
    Happy with that.

I wonder if your intercooler hoses are delaminating internally like mine did.

My 2006 defender 110 gets 9.8 l/100km for both highway and around town.

It has standard size 16 inch alloys with roof rack, bull bar and winch. I am we'll chuffed. This is the average since I got it in December of 2012. I haven't really done any towing yet, but have high expectations for consumption.

My last 110 with 6.2 Diesel and LT85 5 speed got 11-14L per 100, 14L being driving reckless, foot flat, overtaking like mad, or towing up to 2 tonnes
