I'm not really sure if it is "special", I'll put some pics up as soon as I can get some. Some of the differences or individualities as I call them are:
    * it's red! I've been told that it only came out in the td5 but mine is def that colour, and it looks to be factory.
    * it has extra vents on the pax side (mirror of drivers) which I'm told is not normal
    * has a vacuum rear maxi drive locker, and all maxi drive extras like steering arms etc
    * Interior is completely different, different seat trim, roof lining etc
    * don't know if it's unique, but it has a box under the rear seat (full of spares at the moment)
    * and yeah, it does have that sticker on the bonnet, though it's fairly faded and worn (could very well be an eBay special) but it is stuck pretty well.

Now, I would ask the gentleman who owned it before me, but I think he inherited it from a friend that passed away. So no luck!
All I can find out is that it was ordered specially and when it first arrived Davies performance landrovers did an intercooler upgrade and turbo mod( only found that out when I took it back there for some trip prep and the mech remembered it)
Anyways, thanks again for all your help.
    Red ?

Could be original, maybe a respray.

    Extra vents ?
A photo or explanation please ?

Maxi Drive stuff would've been locally fitted.
    Normal upgrade.

    Trim. Maybe re-trimmed ?
    Again, photo's would help.

Box under the rear seat is normal 130, they all have it (apart from the latest TDci which is just a boxed void apparently)

An LRSV variant would be chassis mods, etc.

They have made red defenders since the end of the eighties. Remember the famous dam land rover advert. That was in the eighties and was a red 90.

The LRSV sticker was always placed at the bottom of the side wing between the wheel arch and door. Where the Td5 and TDI badges go.

As for the vent without a picture all I can think is that they all have a vent on the passenger side the same as the drivers side.

As for the interior. In the uk they have defender county's which are posh defenders , nice cloth seats , carpets and posh roof lining.

The more you go on the more this sounds like a personal import.

And Land Rover Speciaal vehicles were never sold in Australia, so that would only leave a personnel Import, or a one off Land Rover Australia trial vehicle.

You do realise my Defender is a 2nd hand import from the UK. It was built under contract for Southern Electricity through Land Rover Fleet Sales, so went through LRSV after RB and the cherrypicker was fitted. Or that is what I have been told by staff at LR UK.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

    Haha LRSV olympics! Too funny.
Yeah, I understand there a heaps of red defenders around, but mine is the red/burgundy kinda colour. I wast told that only came out in the td5 not 300tdi's. As suggested, it could be a respray, byt it looks original to me.
Thanks for all the input, I'm claiming the car to be anything, just wanted to know why there are a few differences to the normal ones I've seen. Anyways, I'm no expert so I'm guessing u guys may be right and it might be a personal import. I'm going to get the vin number and try and work it out from that. I'll also have a look for a special plate or any other info whilst I'm there.
    Cheers again.

Rococo red is a dark red metallic that was done on the 300tdi's in the uk.

So you need to look at uk specs and not Aussie specs.

Mines a Nov. '98 build Tdi and came with TD5 coolant and PAS fluid......

If it's near the changeover anything is possible.
