			Landrover special vehicles??

					Hi all,

I am hoping someone can shed a little light on Landrover special vehicles for me. I understand that they are a division of LR, but what exactly did/do they do? And where in this picture do 130's fall? And is there any identifiers on the actual vehicles showing their origin from LSV? In the vin maybe. Reason I ask is I have acquired a 300tdi 130 and have been told by a few sources that it is unlike anything they have ever seen? I'm more than happy with the car, just would be nice to know the history if there is any.
 Cheers

At one stage I believe LSV did the 127 (130) chassis mods, but whether that extended into the Tdi era I'm not sure.

Post up some pics and and why you think it's different/special.

Land Rover used to do many conversions in the early days, but as more and more options came available they had authorised special vehicle suppliers.

The 127 was a LSV, until it became part of the standard range, ie the 130.

Have alook at this link, it will give you all the information you are after on LSV.

They are also now called Land Rover Professional Vehicles.

Athough you can buy the stickers on ebay.

As a general rule any vehicle that had a non-standard build outside the regular options, likely went through the LR-SV workshop. e.g. my Reynolds Boughton 6X6 had a partial build on the standard line went to RB Scottorn Trailers factory for the chassis mods and extra axle, then returned to LR-SV for completion.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting. You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Cheers for all the info...is there anywhere specific that I should look for the ID plate?
I'm not really sure if it is "special", I'll put some pics up as soon as I can get some. Some of the differences or individualities as I call them are:
 * it's red! I've been told that it only came out in the td5 but mine is def that colour, and it looks to be factory.
 * it has extra vents on the pax side (mirror of drivers) which I'm told is not normal
 * has a vacuum rear maxi drive locker, and all maxi drive extras like steering arms etc
 * Interior is completely different, different seat trim, roof lining etc
 * don't know if it's unique, but it has a box under the rear seat (full of spares at the moment)
 * and yeah, it does have that sticker on the bonnet, though it's fairly faded and worn (could very well be an eBay special) but it is stuck pretty well.

Now, I would ask the gentleman who owned it before me, but I think he inherited it from a friend that passed away. So no luck!
All I can find out is that it was ordered specially and when it first arrived Davies performance landrovers did an intercooler upgrade and turbo mod( only found that out when I took it back there for some trip prep and the mech remembered it)
Anyways, thanks again for all your help.

Its not a sticker, it should be a badge.

And Land Rover Speciaal vehicles were never sold in Australia, so that would only leave a personnel Import, or a one off Land Rover Australia trial vehicle.

Land Rover Special Vehicles are a department that make group of cars or one offs

My brother as had two of them over his time.. A Camel Trophy Freelander and a Freelander done by LRSV for the Dakar

All the camel trophy and G4 cars came out of LRSV.

The sticker you have is a naff old style sticker which was copied and then everyone put it on their truck. But that sticker is about 15- 20years old now.

This is the style they have now.

But you have to have a chassis number from a LRSV car to even order these. I have these on my 90.

But the LRSV do have their own chassis plate too

You can contact LRSV with your chassis number and they will tell you if it was one of theirs and will supply you with a full spec sheet and list from the build of your car if it a LRSV car

A lot of 130's in the uk belonged to the electrity companies and therefore had special stuff on them . Capston winch ladder racks and other stuff. So these were made by LRSV. but not all 130's were made by LRSV.

LSRV is more on a adding of toys area for land rovers. The car comes to them standard and they put in cages, winches , dual tanks, dual batteries. and any other toys they or the customer can think of
