2008 and just replaced with an original... a lot of money for something with no moving parts..but hey it's a Land Rover.

dip it in resin it will last longer, ( colour the numbers and letter so you can see it through the resin)
done mine when it cracking five years ago still good , i did not do the colour bit, its and after though as i could not see them very well.
Maybe my eyes...

Very late response, sorry about that. Have not logged into AULRO since some time before your message in 2015! Presuming by now you got it all sorted. My secondhand gearshift (freebie gifted by Dazzler) also cracked up in a couple of years. Ended up buying a replacement from Davis Performance Landys that has the genuine gearshift shaft that is rebuild with a metal knob.

Billet parts also do a replacement. I’ve been using one for about the last 3 years. Can get a bit hot in summer.
