    what coolant for PUMA 2.4?

I just picked up a new heater tap for the 2008 130, mine is leaking as it appears have some others. I have to change a heater hose whilst I'm at it and will also remove the radiator to get all the spinifex out of the fins.
Wondering what coolant I should be using, the handbook says Texaco XLC but I don't think I've ever seen a Texaco product for sale in Aus. What would be the local equivalent?

Click on this.Click on the coolant section and it will give you the full technical specs you need. This brand may not be available over there but you should be able to use the specification list to get one that has similar specs.

During my oil research which I recently undertook, I spoke to a very helpful guy from Castrol. He told me that the Castrol Coolant that is approved by LR Au is "Castrol Antifreeze NF"

If it is indeed Texaco XLC, look for it at a Caltex garage or depot.
TD5's used that coolant, it was supplied by Caltex Australia and Caltex Long Life organic acid coolant is one and the same as Land Rover OAT.

    Texaco/Chevron = Caltex

Google "Penrite" and then search Land Rover. They have exactly the right stuff available from Auto Pro Repco etc. - Every other fluid that you will need too.

Would there be any problem using a nulon coolant ( red) to top up my 2.2 Puma
I note they have a heavy duty diesel version they claim suitable for all vechicles in Australia

the Land Rover reccomended coolant Texaco or Halvoline seems hard to buy

If it's their Long Life as used in the TD5 any Caltex servo has it on the shelf (usually)

This here is the one to get. The heavy duty diesel one isn't quite the right type for these engines. I can't remember what the reason was though.

The Tectaloy stuff is good too and supposedly made in Australia

Put some of this stuff through the system if it hasn't been cleaned in a while

My understanding is better not to mix coolant.

So if you drain and flush the cooling system, then use whatever you prefer

If just top up the coolant, then use whatever land rover used and that would be caltex long life coolant (red)... Available at caltex servo. $30 for 5 liters undiluted?

    Cheers
