Passenger door doesn't stay open anymore

Looks like the mechanism that hold the door open is worn out. I'm just wondering if I should replace the parts, our can anyone recommend a successful modification, that would be a better fix? Gas strut perhaps? What have others done when this has worn, and can't be adjusted or tightened further?
    Cheers

    Hi,
there is a 10mm bolt in the hinge assembly that will tighten the clamp on the door stabilising rod.
Tighten it up a bit and you should notice the difference straight away.
    cheers

I have lost count of the number of Puma door spring retaining bolts I have had to do up.

And always the passenger door... (90 so only one passenger door!)

I'll have a look at that bolt arrangement this afternoon.

Brid, back door will start doing your head in soon as well. Mulgo gas strut by a country mile the best individual upgrade to a Defender!

    Cheers,

Thanks guys. I am familiar with the 10mm bolt to tension it up, but it the door still won't hold open with it fully tightened. I did the rear for some time ago with the Mulgo gas strut kit, and I would also recommends it to anyone needing Fix for it.

But back to my passenger door, does anyone have an exploded view of the parts? Maybe I lost a small part, or it's just worn out. Maybe I over lubricated it? The Puma has done about 210,000kms now. Are they an item that wears out, our should I be able to adjust it, as I have done previously?

Brid, for when or if you get the new parts,
both my front doors stop staying open. The dealer used lock tight on the 10mm bolts and they have never come loose again. That was 60K klm ago, doors work a treat.

    Hi Nuehue
Thanks...I'll be sure to Locktite it. That's good thinking. Landrover seem to skimp on Locktite during assembly.

Try this, if it is not in this one it may be in one of the other parts blow ups, but this is the closest I could find.

I love this site for identifying parts!!
