    Brake problem

My 1986 110 seems to have lost power assistance on the brakes.

Developed suddenly. I don't have a vacuum gauge, but the other services that use vacuum (diff lock and cruise control) still seem to work normally, so it would seem not to be either the vacuum pump or a leak.

In more detail, power seems to be there on initial application but then disappears. There is a hiss from the pedal area when applying the brakes - which may have been there before when I was not listening for strange noises!

My thought is a leaky diaphragm. Questions :-

    - any other ideas?
    - I assume the whole booster has to be replaced?
    - Is this the same as any other more common vehicle? In other words, am I likely to be able to source one locally?
    - any likely problems changing it?

Hi John, I am pretty sure Karcraft have these and they mail order with pretty quick delivery.

Our son bought one there some years ago for his County.

As for the problem, does your pedal pressure change from when you turn on your engine? It should go down slightly

Check around the master cylinder bolts to booster for cracks, if it is cracked that is your problem.
