Put it this way Iain, a mate drove his 4BD1 powered 110 for weeks on the front shaft and diff when he wrecked a rear uni.

(its amazing what happens to needle rollers when you don't pump grease into them for several years....)

PUMA Front Prop Shaft URGENT HELP PLS

Do I need to remove the four bolts at the tc end or are they ok to have the nuts back on and just stay as I can't get them out without removing a split ring.

Put the nuts back on and then put a cable tie around the four of them between nuts and flange and tighten it to stop them rattling around.

I had a front uni fail in outback NT,no grease even though it was dealer serviced three weeks earlier and I drove for a day and a bit with cable tie's holding the bolts in place. The Alice dealership replaced the whole drive shaft no question and checked over the whole vehicle for me,the Tdi had no trouble spinning the rear wheels either. Puma Front Prop Shaft URGENT HELP PLS

    Hi Iain
Sorry to hear that the props gone.
    Two thoughts
You said you had a series 2 Discovery flange on the front tc. Given the diff end is so similar and Discoveries have a cardan joint could you just use the Discovery shaft if one is available.
Secondly, Iwould not be too worried about driving on the one diff with the centre lock engaged. I did this for around 3 weeks with a broken rear diff in a range rover and have driven the discovery home from a hard weekends play on the front diff towing a camper. It is ordinary as the backlash in the gearing is excentuated. Just take it steady and easy on the gear changes.

Thanks Cal I am back in Sydney now, just rang the supplier to try and get a refund as I contacted him when Drovers died and he flat out refused despite his assurances that his workmanship and quality was second to none and drovers was the first failure he had had. Two shafts failing within 4,000km of new is not good product in anyones book.

Waste of a significant amount of money that.......

I would have got a Tom woods Wayne but I was stuck in the middle of the country at the time.....
