valvoline duragear 75w85 is a great oil and not too exxy, the penrite progear 75 is also excellent.

Sorry about this, but for all my research I can't find a definitive answer, I have had Dextron 111 ATF oil in the main gear box and was advised that a synthetic 75-80 MTF was the way to go, what would you use and which make, Castrol, Valvoline, redline, etc.
Thanks ted

The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈
I've got Castrol Syntrans in mine. I got the recommendation from 'The good oil' department on here.

Thanks I had Valvoline 75-85, in and at first it was a bit notchy but not too bad now, but at the minute I can't find it in supacheap/repco so need something else as good if not better that can be sourced at these shops!
Thanks ted
Pro Gear 75-85 synthetic doesn't appear to have MTF 94 listed on Key Specification, where as Trans Gear 75-80 semi synthetic does?
Do you still regard Pro Gear as better than the Trans Gear.
I am running Sin Manual Trans I think....need to check my notes but this has been superseded by Pro Gear 75-85.
I now have a quite noisy 2nd gear getting worse, noisier as box heats up and under load.
I'm looking to try something different to what in it to prolong changing out g/box.
Thanks,
Rez
