    Towbar conversion achieved with photos

    Sorry I couldn't find the thread this related to originally (searching on S4 not so good).

    I wanted to change my towbar from the plough style to the removable tongue style for better clearance and a better recovery point - the latter bothering me the most. Kit cost $153 GBP and I used the existing electrics.

    Gutted lost my rear step though! Unbelievable improvement really. Took me 3 hours...yeah I know.

    I know what you mean about the loss of the rear step. Had to remove mine to fit the towbar, and since we use the rear seating regularly I modified it so it could go back on. Bit of fiddling around, but if you're determined enough you can get the rear step back. Even so, the tow ball tongue still seems to get used as a step instead - you don't need to bend over and flip it back up after you use it!

    Going to look for a hitch rear step that could go there while towbar not in use!
