whine / whistle sound after blanking EGR

    Hi guys

Finally got around to using a 5Alive EGR blanking kit on my TD5 110 today. Also cleaned the (absolutely filthy!) MAP and (not that bad) MAF sensors.
Took it for a spin and the increase in acceleration/power was great but now I can hear a very noticeable whining / whistling a high revs...
Have checked the mating of the blanking plates and there doesn't seem to be any gaps / flaws that would allow air in. Checked the vacuum hose and it too is blanked off correctly.
I going to ask a mate tomorrow to rev the engine so I can try to see where it's coming from. Anyone have any idea what I might have done wrong ?

    Thanks

might be an idea to post your sound on here.

Because a friends TD5 that was chipped with a straight through exhaust used to whistle a lot but was far more noticeable on tick over.
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

Did you put the blanking plate on the exhaust manifold?
I should imagine if you didn't seal this up it would whistle

Hi djam1, yes used the blank plate provided in the kit but it didn't come with a gasket... Though the original didn't have a gasket either...

    Cheers

Mine fitted fine from TD5 Alive, no whistle so not sure whats going on with yours? I have only noticed a whistle after fitting a decat and centre box removal pipe but this I'm told is normal

Have a look around the blanking plate you fitted for black soot or get someone to listen under the bonnet , If there is trace of soot it will be leaking ,some maniseal on the plate will solve all leaks
